The head of programs and policy at NORSAAC Madam Hafsatu Sey Sumani has rubbish claims by some men that, women want to take over their position.
She said this can not be true rather, what women are seeking are opportunities to aspire to leadership positions at decision-making levels.
Speaking on a forum to mark the International women’s day in Tamale on the 10th of March, 2020, Madam Hafsatu Sey Sumani said women are not challenging men but are equally important to be given the opportunity in all positions.
NORSAAC is implementing a project Disagya (ENOUGH) which seeks to contribute to creating an enabling environment for girls and women to know, claim and exercise their right to end sexual and gender-based violence in Mali, Liberia, and Ghana. The project which is been funded by the European Union through a consortium of Oxfam and Wildaf is being implemented in Tamale Metropolis, Zabzugu, and Sawla Tuna Kalba.
Under this project, it is expected that they will Commemorate some selected international days to celebrate women and girls as well as collaborate with various stakeholders and duty bearers to take action around issues of gender equality and SGBV in Ghana.
Madam Hafsatu said, when women are empowered, the development of the country will grow. She added that every man with an empowered woman at home is safe, therefore, there is the need for men to support women in all positions.
