Bimbilla Senior High School was adjourned the 1st Runner Up for this year’s — Young Female Youth Parliament debate held at Yendi Senior High School
This was not just an ordinary debate; it was also an open forum for the girls to talk about the abuses that are happening in their schools and in their communities. They talk about sexual harassment; how male teachers threaten them with grades if they do not give in to their sexual demand.
Another
point made was their seniors bulling them. After the student talked about their
plight, the teacher mentees who followed them to the debate showed them the
path to use to address their problem and also advised them to stay away from
male teachers unless it has got something to do with their studies but they
should desist from getting too close to them.

The young Female Parliament is an initiative of Norsaac to give voice to young females in both senior high and tertiary schools in their catchment areas. This project is to trained young females to be able to have a voice and also aspire to hold political and decision-making positions in their community as well as the national level. This year marked ten years since its inception and can boast of influencing women to take up political positions at both the school, community and national level of politics.
