Females MMDCES vows to tackle sanitation at the local level

To climax the activities for 2019, Sanatu Zambang had in their studios, the three female MMDCES in the northern region to talk about government flagship projects, how they are benefitting from it and also what they are doing at the local level to compliments government effort in making life better for Ghanaians.

The MMDCES were the Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Honourable Hajia Mariam Iddrisu, the Municipal Chief Executive for Savelugu, Honourable Hajia Ayishatu and District Chief Executive for Tolon, Honourable Hajia Balchisu Yakubu.

The topic discussed were education, agriculture, health sanitation, and water. But sanitation was what was dear to their heart and the people’s attitude towards it is what was annoying to them. For this reason, they have vowed to champion good sanitation at their local level.

In their discussions, the women raised concerns about people’s attitudes towards sanitation and vowed champion good sanitation practices at the local level. One of the issues raised was people’s apathy towards keeping a clean environment in the community.

They touched on open defecation, indiscriminate throwing of refuse and lack of toilet facilities in people’s houses or not using the communal institutional toilets built by the assemblies.

To fight this canker, the women want to champion the fight in making their various assemblies the cleanest city as the president’s dream is to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa. This they say will go in line with the president’s vision.

But most importantly, they believe that a worthy nation is a healthy people and to achieve this feat, they are calling on all media houses to use their platforms in educating and sensitizing citizenry on the need to eschew from practices that do not make the environment clean.
