Interdicted Police Officers Invaded Privacy of Yaa Naa- Dr. Mahama Sayibu

Veteran Journalist and a grandson of the Yaa Naa, Mahama Sayibu says the act of the five interdicted police officers who allegedly assaulted a truck driver at the Gbewaa Palace invaded the privacy of the Yaa Naa.

He said it was against the law for the police officers to forcefully enter the palace without permission from the Dagbon King and must, therefore, be made to pay.

A visibly incensed Mahama Sayibu told Tudu Lahabali Kpana he will lead a demonstration against the police administration if it fails to punish the interdicted police officers.

His anger follows action by some five police officers who chased a truck driver into the seat of the Dagbon King, assaulted him before arresting him for allegedly failing to stop at a number of police checkpoints on the Bimbilla-Yendi road.

The action of the police officers triggered anger across the ancient traditional kingdom with people claiming the act of the police was an act of gross disrespect to the king and the Dagbon people.

The police administration directed the Northern Regional Criminal Investigations Department to launch an investigation into the matter. The five officers have since been interdicted.

But Dr. Sayibu said the matter cannot end with just the interdiction.

He said he and his team will closely monitor the investigation to ensure the interdicted officers are made to pay for invading the privacy of the Yaa Naa.
