The 2019/2020 harmattan season officially began in the Northern part of Ghana

The 2019/2020 harmattan season officially began in the Northern part of Ghana on Friday, November 29, 2019. That is according to the Ghana Metrological Agency. Because of this, the Ghana National Fire Service is warning the public to be careful with the use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG, naked fire and especially electricity.

Frequent power fluctuations have been identified by the Fire Service as the highest cause of domestic fire outbreaks in the Northern Region. Northern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, Assistant Station Officer Adam Iddrisu Gbanzaba Statistics show that 203 fire outbreaks have already been registered this year, with 116 recorded as domestic fires resulting from power fluctuations.

Mr. Gbanzaba said this to Tudu Lahabali Kpana’s Mohammed Mutaru Alhassan on Dabba Dugli Saha this Saturday advising the public to always seek help whenever there is a fire outbreak.
