Marie Stopes International is calling on all individuals and organization to come on board to help fight against unplanned pregnancy especially cases with mentally ill women in the society.
Abdul-Latif Jacob made this known on Sanatu Zambang in an interview with Sandra and Mariam Pagnaa. The topic for discussion was on Abortion and mentally ill women getting pregnant.
He also let on the services that Marie Stopes International offer to the women in its mandate to give women the choice to have babies when they are ready.
Some of the services include family planning, safe abortion, cervical cancer screening and general consultation on the sexual reproductive health system. With the issues of mentally ill women getting pregnant, Mr. Abdul-Latif and Sandra both had cases they came across in the line of their work.
Most of these women become pregnant due to men taken advantage of them. With this in mind, both agreed that they needed to reach out to communities to help in the fight against the act of men abusing mentally ill women.
Also, another point that was raised was a shelter for mentally ill women to protect them. This point led him into calling on all individuals, civil societies, groups, and the community to partner with Marie Stopes International to reach out to a larger audience.
