The Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Honourable Mariam Iddrisu has expressed the assembly’s gratitude to ActionAid Ghana for coming to their aid in building a Girls’ Model school in the municipality. The Girls’ Model School, which is the first of its kind in the municipality was done in collaboration with the assembly and ActionAid. The Girls Model School as described by the MCE is not just the regular school where kids go to read and write.
The school she says will serve as a place where girls who drop out of school because of teenage pregnancy or through no fault of theirs are out of school will get the opportunity to continue their education and also equip themselves for life.
In an interview with Mariam Pagnaa on Sanatu Zambang, the MCE said the Girls’ Model School was necessary because of the high number of girls dropping out of school in the municipality. ‘’We did this because of what I mentioned earlier the dropout rate of girls as compared to boys in the municipality is higher. We collaborated with ActionAid Ghana, a gender sensitive based organization to assist’’.

The Girls’ Model School consist of a three-unit classroom block with a staff common room, library, toilet facility, a borehole and an ICT lab for the people of Sagnarigu. And also the chief of Sagnarigu gave six acres of land for the project.
