The organizers of the NORTHERN RADIO AWARDS Flawles Creations Consults outdoors the award scheme last Saturday 27Th February 2021 at the Aliu Mahama sports stadium. This years’ event marked the 3rd edition since its inception. Due to the observance of Covid-19 protocols, the event had limited physical presence and it was strictly by invitation. The event’s main audience was online with over 300 viewers and 40 shares by persons within the media industry.
The event shared its mission and vision for the event as well as acknowledge the relevance of the celebration of its theme dubbed “CELEBRATING THE ROLE OF RADIO JOURNALISM IN PROJECTING THE NORTHERN HERITAGE”.
Speaking at the event the lead organizer Ms. Naa Kwarley Richardson talked about the relevance of developing local content in promoting the northern heritage. She quoted
‘’it’s better to tell our story through our own eyes than to let the world tell our story for us.”

Ms. Naa went further to remind the media houses of the growth needed to enable them to compete not just on local platforms but international platforms as well. Based on that Ms. Naa said this year the scheme decided to focus on capacity building by providing training for all participating stations including management.
Mr. Mashwal Ndego a team member and Representative for the upper east also added his voice encouraging all participants to focus more on the benefits of the event in terms of training rather than whether they win or lose. He explained that the focus of the event isn’t to just award but also to support the cycle of change needed to grow the radio industry.
The event was graced with the physical presence of some radio personalities in the Northeast region, the chief editor of the Savanna news blog Mr. Joseph Ziem, Mr. Prince Barak of the Savannah Herald, and the organizing team.
Although the event had a late start than planned, it was a simple and successful event. The organizers expressed their appreciation for the support.
