GreenHills limited is a wholly owned Ghanaian artificial intelligence technology focused on building world class smart internet solutions for the Ghanaian market with its newest product called COWVEM. COWVEM which means Coin Operated Wifi Vending Machine is a new product made in Ghana with the producers based in the Ashanti Region.
COWVEM 2.0 is first of its kind in West Africa with an upgrade. The machine is designed to make access to internet less costly and fast for internet users and a money making machine to business minded persons.
Speaking at the launch on 29 August, 2020 at the Tamale Regional Library, the CEO of GreenHills Limited Mr Akunfu Ibrahim said “We strongly believe affordable internet fuels entrepreneurship and business growth.”
The launch was theme: Unveiling of the Netspot COWVEM and presentation of Netspot business opportunity.
The wifi machine is not affiliated to any telecommunication network as compared to other wifi devices. GreenHills Limited partners with NCA licensed SBI providers Yahclick powered by Hughes is the high performance satellite broadband services by A1 Yah satellite communication company (Yahsat), a private joint stock company fully owned by Mubadala, the investment arm of the government of Abu Dhabi to provide extensive reach, uninterrupted connectivity, cost effective and easy to install.

According to Mr Ibrahim, to access the machine, “you have to show your device to the machine either a mobile phone, tablet or laptop, then swift on the wifi on your device for a special code from the machine, then it requires you to insert your amount of money (coins)needed and it’s connected.” The wifi has an internet speed of 1Gbps (Gigabyte per second).
COWVEM has special features such as quick service- dispensing internet within seconds, refund area to return unused or out of service coins as well as status alert-tracker and trace functionality with a maximum of 500 users upon request, it needs not a user name nor password to operate and with low power consumption, price and time adjustment upon request and ranges 30 meters indoor-100 meters outdoors.
