Homecoming: Why choosing a side in northern music is suicidal for your career?

Story; Rahamatu-Lahi Zakaria

Most upcoming musician or one-time big musicians in Tamale feel the need to join camps, thus, Fancy Gadam and Maccasio because they believe they can succeed when they tap into these two giants fanbase

Joining these two is suicidal for your career. We have seen the rise and fall of great upcoming artists whose career went down the slope just the mere fact that they chose aside. They did not believe in their talent and they saw that the only place they could grow was picking aside.

I am not saying they are cursed. When you choose a camp, you automatically lose one camp and your chosen camp fans will not give you that 100% support that you need to grow. The best thing is to grow your own fanbase without relying on any musician fanbase.

The likes of Lil K, Nandos. Etc, are very good artists and their mistake was, they chose aside so they could grow their brand but that was the beginning of their downfall.

This is the first mistake of Optional King when both camps campaigned and voted for you, you do not choose the meeting point for your homecoming at one camp. Definitely it tells people that you have chosen aside.  You want 69 fans to be cool with that, no, they would not be. They feel betrayed and their reaction to social media is justified. Gadam Nationals would have reacted the same way.

The excuse is that you hail from Zongoni so the reason for your decision, but is it only Zongani people that voted for you. Is 5munnite the only place in Zongoi that you could choose for the meeting point? Kulikuli school is in that area, the Dakema chief palace is also there, you could have chosen these two spots for your meeting point to avert people reading any meaning to your decision.

It is like Manifest having a birthday party at Stonebwoy house expecting Shatta Wale to come there.

People’s careers died just because the public read meaning to their statement or the decision they made. In the height of Palestine and Israeli fight about five to six years ago, Rihanna tweeted in support of Palestine but later deleted it after so many backlashes from fans. she went to be neutral and that is what I wanted Optional King to do after people coming to talk about the division he is bringing to his camp.

Optional King might not see it now but currently, as I write this, I know. he has lost some fans already. Not just 69 fans but the neutral. The people who are tired of these two camps. People just wanted another third force in the music industry.
