Hajia Alima Sagito Saeed campaigns against early child marriage

Hajia Alimatu Sagito Saeed-CEO of SWIDE and the wife of the northern regional minister, Honourable Saeed Salifu is campaigning against child marriage and has reminded parents of the importance of education to the girl child, her family, and the community she comes from.

She called on parents to take advantage of the free senior high school education that the NPP led government is implementing to send their girl child to school rather than marry her off early.

Sanatu Zambang ended January with an art exhibition dubbed the SCCA Tamale Challenge at the studios. the exhibition saw a great number of young talented artists in capital coming to showcase their craft and also network as well. She says that marrying the girl child at an early age without acquiring knowledge or skills is harmful and does not solve any problem but rather brings more problems to the child.

The free senior high school education is one of the policies of the NPP led government and Hajia says it has come to help parents educate their children. For this reason, they do not have any reason as to why they will marry their girl child off instead of letting her continue with her education.

She made this known at the Yumza foundation Women Empowerment Summit in Tamale at the Holy cross parish conference hall on the 15th of February, 2020.
