Story; Rahamatu-Lahi Zakaria

Sanatu Zambang played host to two Dutch students, Stephanie Roggekamp and Eline Teunissen from the Hodgeschool Journalistiek in the Netherlands after their visit to Karimenga in the Upper East region of Ghana.

The two volunteered to come to Ghana through Meet Africa to come and learn the diverse culture of the people. They had other options to choose from but the two said, they wanted a change of environment that is not similar to their culture. They wanted a totally different cultural experience that they are used to.

Before their journey to Ghana, they were given some form of orientation by meet Africa about the cultural background of the place they were going and how they could adjust to the living condition of the place.

One of thing they said they will be taking with them back to the Netherlands is the hospitality of the people of Karimaga. Stephanie and Eline shared the kind treatment they had while staying in Karimega. Everyone in the community saw them as family unlike in the Netherlands, where they are used to living individually.

While in Karimega, Stephanie and Eline shot a video documentary for the Greenhouse Project, the people and also the live at Karimega. They were exposed to the food, the music, healing through herbs and above all the communal living.
