Ministries District Police Commander, Superintendent Florence Owusu has justified the arrest of about 10 un-posted teacher trainees who thronged the premises of the Ghana Education Service (GES) unlawfully.

According to her, the action taken by the police to arrest the leaders of the group who incited their colleagues to picket the ministry was to serve as a deterrent, as well as, bring sanity in the premises.

Detailing why the group, Coalition of Unposted Trained Teachers besieged the GES, Superintendent Florence Owusu noted that, the demonstrators had received text messages on their phones which they claimed was from GES but upon further investigations, it appeared to be fake.

She said with over four ministries located there, police pleaded with them to leave. After confronting them, the Superintendent averred that the leaders of the group incited the rest not to leave and this deviant behavior called for their arrest. However, she didn’t give any timelines for their release.
