Residents of Chanshegu in the Tamale South Constituency have vowed to declare their support for any political party which will help provide potable drinking water for the area.

According to the residents, taps in the area have not flown for seven years and the only other alternative source of water is a dam in the area which they claim dry up before the end of Harmattan. The residents say they resort to buying water from commercial water suppliers at exorbitant prices.

Speaking to TuduLahabaliKpana, spokesperson for the residents, Sulemana Zakaria said they are ready to campaign and vote massively for any political party that will come to their aid, saying they will no longer vote for symbols but for community development.

When contacted, Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Water Company Limited, Nii Abbey Nicholas expressed surprise at claims that taps in the area have not flown for the past seven years. He, however, said the company is conducting its own investigation into the matter and will address the issue in due time.
