”We still would have elected our MMDCEs without this referendum” – Rt Hon Rayan Iddi Yussif

Sulemana Hasana hosted Rt Hon Rayan Iddi Yussif, Speaker of Tamale Metro Youth Parliament and Mumuni Yirifa Yunus, Programs Manager Justice Fm.

📍”A No vote means no politicization of our district assemblies, it is for unity and togetherness at the local level” — Mumuni Yirifa Yunus

📍”Whatever you vote for on the 17th, you think deeply about generations yet unborn. Your Yes vote or No Vote determines the future of our democracy. Turn out massively to make the right choice.” — Rt Hon Rayan Iddi Yussif

“We still would have elected our MMDCEs without this referendum?
The Parliament of Ghana could just amend Article 243.

The fact is, even if we all vote YES and parliament fails to amend Article 243(1), we won’t be electing our MMDCEs.

A YES vote doesn’t mean you’re voting for the election of MMDCEs.

We are all in support of the election of our MMDCEs, however, what we’re not in support of is to open the floodgates for our politicians to sponsor candidates for the election of MMDCEs, Assembly members and Unit Committee members. Let’s let our local governance system be, devoid of partisan politics.

No politics at the District Assembly level. We can’t compromise. Vote brown for a NO vote on December 17. “— Mumuni Yirifa Yunus (Programs Manager Justice Fm)
