Most communities as in the case of Nyankpala do not have constructed gutters to dispose of liquid waste and hence dispose of this waste at their backyards or even on open spaces. These liquids then become breeding grounds for mosquitoes which hinders the health of people around.
Another issue is open defecation. Due to limited toilet facilities in that community and ignorance of people, they go out to the fields, bushes, forest and other open spaces to defecate rather than using the toilet.
To go over, pollution is also one of the biggest environment mismanagement in that community which are land pollution (deforestation) and air pollution.
About 70% of trees are being cut down or cleared off in the name of fire woods for cooking activities and some some for farming activities without reforestation which has caused soil depletion in some parts of the community.
In a nutshell, proper sanitation can be improved in that community if more toilets facilities and gutters are constructed to dispose liquid waste.
