The Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Honourable Alhassan Suhuyini has pledged a seed capital of five thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵ 5,000.00) for the establishment of Dr Choggu Educational fund. He made this pledge yesterday, 30th September 2021 at GNAT Hall in Tamale during the maiden edition of the MP’s Town Hall Meeting under the theme ‘’Accountable and Transparent Leadership for Development’’ and the chairman for the occasion was Nyab Choggu Naa Alhassan Mohammadu.
The Dr Choggu Educational fund according to the MP is to honour the late Dr David Abdulai, founder of Shekina Clinic for the poor ad destitute. The educational fund will cater to the needy but brilliant science students to offer medicine at the tertiary level of education in his constituency. This goodwill gesture he hopes will train more calibres of doctors like Dr Choggu to also contribute to the delivery of health services in the community.
Honourable Suhuyini also reiterated the reason for the gathering saying it is important for him as the MP of the area to report to his constituency what he has been able to do since they gave him the mandate to represent them in parliament. The second was to dialogue with the constituents on how they can all collectively work together to develop their communities.
As the MP for the area, he recounted the sectors that he has been able to torch using his MP common fund. These sectors are education, health, agriculture, skills development for women and the youth, seed capital for women, water, sanitation and other philanthropic gestures within the Tamale North constituency.
Other speakers at the event included NADMO director, municipal police director, municipal education director, Ghana health service, DVLA, Youth Employment Agency, MOFA and other relevant stakeholders who are part of the agents of development in the society. The speakers all spoke about what their institutions represent, what they do and how the constituents can seek help from these institutions.
