“Youbanc(R)”: opportunity for the youth? | Sulemana Abdul Rauf(GOVERNOR)

Dear colleague Youth of this country, it is crystal clear that unemployment remains a biggest challenge in the 21st century and for that matter, we ought to be strategic and smart on how we want to build ourselves. Most of us are of the believe that, someone has to employ us before we could give out our gift from God to make a change in society.

I do not really disagree, but humbly want to differ a little to point out to you that if ‘those whom we are waiting to employ us now have not taken the bold step to start something on their own, will we have been able to look up to them for an employment shelter?’

We need to look at how the world is evolving and put up pragmatic measures to take advantage of the global world so that we the Ghanaian youth could also produce the likes of Mark Zuckerbeg , Elon Musk , Bill Gates and co so we could have a greater impact on our countries . It is our sole responsibility to look at every situation around us and convert those we perceive to be challenges into opportunities.

For example , Unemployment remains a nightmare to us in this country, being it any group of people or party in power, we are all certain that no Government can end unemployment in this country within 4 to 8 year’s Mandate so what are doing about it to be able to curb this life destructive situation? We need to make sure that as young and vibrant youth of the country, let us fashion out ideas that are sustainable and results oriented to take advantage of this mid -year budget that has just been read by the Honorable Finance minister (KEn Ofori Atta ).

A Zeno.FM Station

We need to engage colleague youth so we could identify areas where we can better express our selves and gifts that God has given to us and make it a a workable dream. We all know full well that an initiative has been launched called “Youbanc(R)”. This is to support young ideals in the country and for that matter we need to welcome it with all happiness even though there might be bureaucratic process in accessing this opportunity, but still with lots of determination and perseverance we can make a change with this great policy and thus, become employers instead of employees.

We must commend the government of the day for creating a fertile ground on which youth with workable ideas will thrive .This enabling environment created by the Government of the day will go a long way to affect communities positively since ideas that will be tailored for consideration by the respected and patriotic youth of this country will largely be the ones that will be seeking to solve critical problem within societies and communities.

For example, assuming a town call “ADUBILI YILI “has no set up that produces sachet water for sale and youth from the area come together to put ideas on how such a venture will impact on the local economy and also create employment will be, I think when considered and funded, it will have a great impact on the people. Also, kumbungu for instance, has majority of its population to be farmers so if the youth of that area come together to put ideas to be able to acquire land around Bontanga dam to operationalize mechanized farming so that they can continue to produce vegetables to feed the needs of their customers.

This will go along way to affect the local economy positively. To sum up, I am humbly calling on colleague youth of this country to take advantage of the opportunity and a fertile ground that the “Youbanc(R) “ initiative seek to provide for us . We can in collaboration with the Government, give a strong punchline to our common enemy call “Unemployment”

MEASURES RECOMMENDED BY MYSLEF FOR GOVERNMENT TO CONSIDER TO RUN THIS INITIATIVE EFFECTIVELY AND EFFICIENTLY

1.Government of Ghana must create swift and flexible accessible environment for this initiative

2.Government must establish an effective, efficient and Transparent and ‘Value for money’ team that will be accountable to the citizens of the state.

3. It must be an escrow methodology to disburse the funds

4.Enabling environment is a key area to consider to make this policy achievable
