Northern Ghana keeps getting bigger. Every traveler who has visited the region knows and says their wish list grows longer, not shorter, every time they dip into the Northern Region.

Travel teaches us invaluable lessons we can’t learn in school. It expands our worldview. It pushes us to be better, stronger, more empathetic human beings.

SCCA Tamale

50years of Artworks celebrated at the savannah Center for Contemporary Art

In March of 2019, the Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art (SCCA) opened the center by showcasing the work of renowned Ghanaian modernist art, Galle Winston Kofi Dawson. The exhibition was a retrospective on the work of the artist.

The exhibition included a great number of works from the artist that spanned for five decades such as soil painting, woodcut, ink and line drawing, acrylic collage, sculpture, and installation. These arts work also informs people that the artist likes experimentation and innovations while working.

With this exhibition, the SCCA celebrated the life and work of Galle Winston Kofi Dawson, one of the earliest modernist Ghanaian artists.

Redclay Studios

Ibrahim Mahama sccatamale- Red Clay Studios

Just as Alcock and Brown made the first non-stop transatlantic flight in June 1919, perhaps Ibrahim Mahama is the first Ghanaian, the only African and first man to drive a plane from Accra to Tamale, using the Techiman-Tamale Rd/N10 which is a 9 h 59 min (620.8 km) via N6 drive.

The idea of Ibrahim Mahama bringing this old junk to Tamale is to give kids who are unable to use the plane in their lives a chance to have a feel how inside look like.

He wants to use this project to expose kids to early art to inform them of the kinds of art that exist and how their environment can influence the kind of art they do. It also gives a chance to kids who wants to become a pilot in the future the chance to see the interior of the plane.

At the end of it, all these junks shall be used as classrooms to teach kids art at a very young age.

A poultry establishment that operates innovatively to support community development. Jamilullah Farm is a small farm in Northern Ghana Tamale.
Starting in December 2013, the farm aims at providing employment for the underprivileged school drop out who wishes to work and put themselves back in school

The farm operates such that the local farmer also benefits by way of accessing a constant market for their birds. The farm offers a wide range of poultry products including guinea fowls raised in the wild with high nutrition and less fat. We also have quality eggs for home consumption and commercial food supply.

My inspiration is when I sew and design dresses for people and they are happy and give encouraging feedback. I also plan on helping the younger ones especially girls to acquire my type of skills in the near future

The Clinic is open to all free of charge, and they also run a meals-on-wheels program, feeding the mentally challenged on the streets of Tamale.
