SWIDA-GH in partnership with Pan African Organization for Research and Violence Against Women and Girls facilitated a workshop for regional level stakeholders in the protection against child abuse on July 9, 2020. This workshop took place in Tamale at the early hours of Thursday for participants from numerous departments; children, immigration, police, GPRTU, Birth and deaths, religious bodies, traditional rulers, Queens, and CSOs.
Led by the Executive Director of SWIDA-GH, Mrs. Hajia Alima Sagito-Saeed, who elaborated on the list of national laws and policies protecting women in the country, strategies to implement to reduce early child marriage, among others. The meeting involved the participation of all members hence made the discussion very easy. About 25 participants benefited directly at the end of the workshop.
The Savannah Women Integrated Development Agency (SWIDA) is a Non-governmental organization focused on the empowerment and total development of women and girls in Ghana, especially in the Northern region. Since 2015, SWIDA has been working with over 190 women groups who are much into SHEA production. They look keenly into the restoration, preservation and enrichment of the shea parklands.
Mrs. Saeed is the current Board Chairman for the West Africa Network for Peace Building (WANEB Ghana), the National Board Secretary of the Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana, Executive Committee Member for Women in Agribusiness Network, Board Member Shea Network Ghana and the Baobab market that focuses basically in the discussion relevant social and political concerns including natural resources and restoration of livelihood opportunities for rural people.
