GES and Zoomlion disinfect 50 out of the 86 Senior High Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) and Zoomlion Ghana Limited have disinfected and fumigated over 50 schools out of the 86 senior high schools earmarked in the Northern, Savanna, and Northeast Regions.

The exercise which stated last week is due to end by close of the week. The exercise is to raid the schools of bed bugs and the new coronavirus. Head of communications and cooperate affairs manager of zoomlion Emma Akyea-Boakye, who lead the inspection tour said she was impress with the work done.

She appealed to parents to also disinfect their homes so that the students do not carry bugs back to the school.  She said this should not be an onetime affair but urged the government to make it an annual thing to completely eradicate the menace.

The headmistress of the Ghana Senior High School Hajia Amina Musah said the school has on several occasions tried to get rid of the bedbugs but that has not yielded any results. She said it is their hope that this would work to end the problem so that the student can learn in a comfortable environment.

Hajia Amina raised concerns about the school uncompleted fence wall which she said poses danger to students and appealed to the government to support complete the fence.
