Tamale is yet again the center of a newly found love, and it’s buried deep inside a set of seeds spread across the Northern territories. Very few people noticed these new emerging seeds a few years back but hardly sort to have a little sense of interest in it and boy were they wrong.
This year a list of artistic activities has been published and the city is looking to host several tourists and art lovers from September 2024 to April 2025. The list includes contemporary arts, film festivals, fashion shows, musical carnivals, and a variety of performing arts.
From the South East to the North East of Tamale, there will be so much to see on the list. The best and most resilient will take you on a roller coaster of fun emotional and insightful journeys into the realities and nightmares.
On the eve of 5th September, Artboy Wasiu will be hosting his annual sip and paint at Jubilee Park in Tamale, guests are welcomed to take part. The sip and paint event will also showcase previous paintings of Artboy works for public viewing.


Hiky Muda Clothing
September will be jump-suited by fashion designer Hikma Mahamuda, a finalist of the COP. Get to witness a collection of her signature works. Hiky will also be introducing pieces of her long awaited designs inspired by the late Professor Naa Phliggah former rector of the then Tamale Polytechnic now Tamale Technical University. The collections will be on display from September 5th to September 27th, 2024 at the Water West Gardens.


Mohammed Alidu, Zakaria A. Hakim, Gifted Tima, and Asmaila Rahina
Speakers of October will mold words and sculpt prophecies at the center of national culture in Tamale. Drummer Alidu performances are scheduled for 3 days (Oct 3rd-Oct 6th), 2 hours each. From 8 pm to 10 pm. Rahina’s performance is scheduled for (11th October -12 October. 8 pm-9 pm) as we witness her tear off the mask of today’s illusional dignity and subject us to severe torture of empathy and mindfulness. Between (the 15th to 18th of October), from 3 pm to 6 pm audiences will sail through the words of Gifted Tima and be reminded, grounded, and disabled by her approach to our lack of sight and memory. From (Oct 23rd to Oct 25th, 8 pm to 9 pm) We will get soaked in with Zakaria A Hakim’s performance, a test of lifelessness, and the logging for hope amidst a dark universe.
OBL back-to-back screenings
Award-winning film director OBL will hold us down with his films in the breezy month of November. 4 of his feature films will be screening on the nights of 9th Nov, 14th Nov, and 22nd Nov from 7 pm to 9 pm alongside panel discussions with a display of behind the scene pictures of the films during the day time.
Choggu boys, Nazz Official, Fad lan, Lil KGonja and Reka J vs Ataaka, Abu Sadiq, Diva 1 Wiz Child and Don Sigli
The first Saturday of December and the last Saturday of December will host these amazing artist, words can only scratch the surface of their performance. And there will be two surprise guest performers on the night. Both musical nights will be held at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
Timtooni Junaid
Award-winning director Tim will usher us into January with his selected feature films accompanied by panel discussions from 15th January to 19th January 2025 at Victory Cinema. There will also be a well-curated series of displays of other side projects Tim had to embark on to fund his feature films and their influence on his approach to his work.
Fatsu Fashion House
The fashion house will curate a collection of designs led by their founder and creative director Fatsu Garments. Although known as a bridal designer, this collection will be her 1st body of work since her Covid-19 panache collection. The exhibition will be hosted at the Fatsu Fashion House Gallary off the UDS Nyankpala road


IB and Najaat
The duo collaboration of their two feature animation films, one will be screened on the night of 6th March 2025 while the other will be screened on the 10th of March. Prepare to delve into the minds of the most promising creators from Northern Ghana.


Nuotama
Finally, we get to see the much talked about 4 part series film, Yennenga. Directed and produced by Nuotama. Each episode will be screened each night at Victory Cinema from 8 pm to 9 am every Saturday throughout April 2025.

Amina Pagna
Food is art just as art is life and dipping our hands inside the calabash of Duduhgu is an experience to behold. Traditional recipes are art and, much like conceptual art, a generational skill. Amina will curate a live conventional kitchen, just maybe May might just be named Dagbon kitchen.

Print Nyame and Jhozi Stitches
June will be held hostage by two designers Appiah and Josephine. They both have a unique way of presenting their designs….. right now i just really want to sleep ka easy…..


Abass Safian
It ends with Abass Safian cartooning of the politics of climate change exhibition in July. The audience will have a peek at his first comic book story from Northern Ghana featuring Shani Mohammed and Matina as collaborators.
