The Northern Region has recorded three more cases of COVID 19. One is from the Tolon District. A head potter who returned to the area while the other two are from the Nanumba South District.
Health officials have begun to contact tracing of these cases. These results are coming from the testing center at the Tamale Teaching Hospital Public Health Laboratory which began testing last Thursday.
The Northern Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service John D Eleeza who disclosed this at a donation ceremony by the Agriculture Development Bank to the Tamale teaching hospital said the issue of sigma has begun hitting hard on their efforts to contact trace people who might have come into contact with COVID 19 patients and appealed to the media to educate the mass on issues of COVID 19 to help reduce the sigma.
He said the Tamale testing center has tested over 300 tests and 4 have tested positive. He explained that the forth cases are a retest. Dr. Eleeza appealed to the general public not to stigmatize patients who have recovered from the disease. He promised the PPEs and the other items are essential to them in their line of duty and will be put to good use
The Deputy Managing Director for ADB Alhaji Alhassan Yakubu Tali who presented the items to the regional minister said the bank made a commitment to support government with GH 1,000,000 to help in the fight against the COVID 19.
He said out the amount, GH 200,000 was donated to the COVID 19 fund and the remaining GH 800,000 was used to purchase some assorted items to be donated to over 15 selected institutions across the country including the TTH and the Tolon districts hospital.
He said the bank felt the need to help fight against the pandemic because it is a shade responsibility. Alhaji Yakubu urged other corporate organizations to do the same to help contain the COVID 19. The items donated included Veronica buckets, hand cloves, and sanitizers, packets of tissues, boxes of soap, spirits, nose masks among others.
