Friday, the 13th of March 2020 was a much anticipated day for the student body of the University for Development Studies (Nyankpala Campus). The night was characterized by various performances from Miss Amaraba contestants and talented artists from the campus. These talented acts thrilled patrons with their stagecraft performances and among other things.

The ‘’ Nothing I get ‘’ hitmaker, Fameye was the headlining artist. Patrons sang word to word and danced to his songs when he performed on stage. There was a lot of euphoria in the auditorium from the student body to see the artist on stage perform. Many tried to have selfies, touch or to dance with him on stage.

The auditorium was filled to capacity leaving many standing in and out of the venue and some peeping through the windows. In attendance to the event were the SRC/NUGS executives including her Excellency, Miss Zainab Denderi. Reigning queens from Miss COMSAG and Miss Oti were also present to grace the event.

Students agitated against the NUGS president Mr. Ramid standing in place of Her Excellency Miss Zainab Denderi to give a speech. It was clear that the SRC president was not present when the whole program started. And as part of the agenda for the event, she was to deliver a speech which she was not available by then and thus the need for the NUGS president to stand in place of her.

Many have different views as to why the student body protested against her representative. Some attributed it to the ‘’poor administration’’ whilst others wanted to hear from the horses own mouth but not from a representative.

The night was also used to award trophies to winners of the 2020 SRC Week Celebration games.  The school of Engineering won the Inter-departmental football games. Level 200 hundred also won the basketball games and Privates hostels bags the ladies’ soccer games.
