2020 has been declared as the year of learning by the Ghana Library Authority. To achieve this, the northern regional library has come out with a series of activities.
To make these activities a reality, the director of the northern regional library, Mr, Aaron Kuwornu is calling on the general public, non-governmental organisations, and philanthropists to come and partner with them in carrying out those activities. These activities are to help in leaving no child behind in their bid to encourage learning with the use of the library.
So far, the regional library organised an eye screening exercise on Val’s day to show love to their patrons. Currently, they have a mobile library running in five schools in the Sagnarigu municipality. They teach underprivileged kids how to read and also how to use computers.
They hope to expand this mobile library to other districts for other children to benefit but this will only be possible if they have enough funds to carry on.
Other activities earmarked for the year of learning include the children’s corner, personality read, reading festival, renovating, and revamping of district libraries under their jurisdiction. For this reason, the regional library is appealing to all come to their aid to give every child in the region a chance to have a feel of what the library should be.
