Sanatu Zambang holds its first art exhibition

Story; Hasana Sulemana

Sanatu Zambang ended January with an art exhibition dubbed the SCCA Tamale Challenge at the studios. the exhibition saw a great number of young talented artists in capital coming to showcase their craft and also network as well.

This exhibition was to diversify what art is in the capital and not just limit it to just music and movies like what people think it is.

This was the first of its kind in the studios and they hope to continue giving the opportunity to young budding talents in the capital to be heard. The theme for the challenge was “Memories of the past and future”.

The SCCA Tamale Challenge saw artiste like Abdullah Abdul Rashid, Abass Safian, Mohammed Saani, Rashid Asigri, and Abdul Rashid Salma exhibit their work using pencil drawing, pen drawing, graffiti, painting and also pottery.

The perception is that if an artist cannot draw or paint a human being then he/she is not qualified to be called an artist but art is broad.

Artists have their own specialties, some paint with beautiful colors, others draw using pen or pencil while many sculpt or include foreign materials in their paintings such as cloth or sand.

“ART IS ALL ABOUT BEING PATIENT WITH CONTINUES PRACTICE, SO I PERSONALLY DON’T RUSH IN EVERYTHING I DO.” Abdullah Abdul Somed.

“DRAWING MAKES ME FEEL CALM.” Abdul Rashid Salma.

The program lasted the entire day with many activities like storytelling, artists painting, artist profile recording, and photography.
