Ghanaians will be heading to the polls today to elect their District Assembly and unit committee members for the next four years. Here in the Tamale Metropolitan area, elections will be held in 41 electoral areas and 27 in the Sagnarigu Municipal area.

Ahead of the elections, former Presiding Member of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, Alhaji Abu Takoro is pushing for the re-election of incumbent Assembly members into Ghana’s third-biggest assembly. He believes this will enable the incumbents to continue to give off their best in service to the Tamale Assembly.

Alhaji Takoro is of the view that, electing the assembly members seeking re-election will give them the strength to push for local assemblies to be taken as the miniature of the Ghanaian Parliament to be groomed and natured to take full responsibilities of its citizenry.
